ABOUT WAKEWELL

WHO WE ARE

  • WakeWell is a nonprofit ministry that exists to bridge the wake culture to Jesus, partnering with the local Church.

    VISION

WakeWells vision is to see the entire wake culture transformed by the love of Jesus.

    MISSION

Our mission is to share the gospel of Jesus by building communities within the wake culture.

    WE DREAM OF

    • A wakeboard, wakeskate, and wakesurf culture that wholeheartedly loves Jesus Christ.

    • When riders from around the world, regardless of culture, race, gender, economic status, or physical distance will be part of the family of God, helping, loving, and serving each other.

    • A wake culture that is free from addictions, allowing riders to live and walk in complete and unhindered hope and freedom.

    • A culture that is passionate about helping those in need, both inside and outside of the wake culture.

    • River, lake, and cable park communities that have been transformed by Jesus Christ, that people from all over the world would be drawn to them and subsequently experience Jesus.

WakeWell’s vision is to bring the living water of Jesus to a thirsty wake culture.

WakeWell leaders believe God’s Word calls them to find their identity in Jesus, to engage those within their culture through genuine, loving relationships, to do selfless acts for others as they share the Gospel message, and to make disciples as they follow Jesus.

  • BELIEVING

Our faith is grounded in Biblical truth. We, as the Body of Christ, pursue a lifestyle of prayer and worship.

John 8:12 “I (Jesus) am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never Walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

    RELATIONSHIPS

We intentionally build relationships with the people God has placed in our lives, regardless of religious persuasion, physical or spiritual state, or lifestyle preferences. We earn the right to be heard through love, acceptance and genuine friendships.

Romans 13:8 “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.”

1 Corinthians 9:22 “To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel that I may share in its blessings.”

    IDENTITY

We enjoy living in the laid-back, recreation-focused culture, but we recognize the culture’s identity crisis. While we relate with the culture, we remain obedient to God’s Word and find our eternal identity in Him.

1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Galatians 1:10 “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

    DOING

We selflessly demonstrate our love for Jesus by putting others ahead of ourselves and serving one another, the local communities we live in, and the entire wake culture.

Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

    GOSPEL

The most important thing in our lives is the Good News, and we readily share that message of hope in our words and deeds.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

    ENGAGING

Through building trust and rapport in both communities, the non-believing wake culture and the Body of Christ, we desire to facilitate introductions, interactions and relationships between the two. connecting riders to the Body of Christ and encouraging/equipping the body of Christ to engage with the unreached wake culture.

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the day approaching.”

  • That’s a great questions, thanks so much for asking! … (long pause of silence) … (awkward stares)

Sorry, sometimes that response works. So you wanted an actual answer? It’s a little hard to explain because there is a short answer and a long answer, and neither one gives specific guidelines as to what we DO. But because of your persistence, here are two answers:

    SHORT ANSWER

WakeWell Leaders bring the living water of Jesus Christ, the Gospel, to the wakeboard, wakeskate, and wakesurf culture in their local lake, river and cable park communities.

    LONG ANSWER

WakeWell is a mission and values-based movement. This means that WakeWell chapters and partnerships do not have a specific formula that they have to follow in order to be successful. We give our leaders the freedom to DO whatever they want as long as it aligns with our core values.

While it might seem like a vague answer, this decision has a significant impact on what events WakeWell chapters and partnerships run. We encourage our leaders to dream big and run events that will most effectively reach the riders in their local scene. As a result, because every scene looks incredibly different, each WakeWell group looks different.

However, our purpose always remains the same: To B.R.I.D.G.E. the gap between the wake culture and Jesus, partnering with the local church.

Some Examples of What WakeWell Groups Do:

    • Weekly “Ride Days”

    • Video Nights/Movie Premiers

    • Camping Trips

    • Contests & Events

    • Bible Studies

    • Camps and Instructional Events
